PETER BREWER – ATTORNEY PROFILE

“The men who create power make an indispensable contribution to the Nation’s greatness, but the men who question power make a contribution just as indispensable . . . for they determine whether we use power or power uses us.”

- John F. Kennedy

Peter Brewer is a battle-tested criminal defense trial and appeal lawyer. He has practiced criminal law exclusively since he was admitted to the Bar. He is an aggressive attorney who understands how the system really works and how it can dramatically affect a person’s life.

He has tried cases from speeding tickets to first degree murders, and he loves to fight for his clients and the Constitution.

Mr. Brewer grew up in Hardee County, Florida, and graduated from Hardee Senior High School in 2003 with honors. He attended Florida State University where he competed in Model United Nations events against universities such as Harvard, Yale, and Georgetown. He received his bachelor’s degree in International Affairs with a minor in Middle Eastern Studies.

He then attended law school at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. While volunteering his time with nonprofit organizations and legal clinics, he saw firsthand how the government can steamroll those without the money or resources to do something about it. He was a Notes and Comments Editor for the Tulane University Journal of International and Comparative Law and received a certificate in International and Comparative Law while graduating with honors. He also received the “book award,” or highest grade in the class, in International Civil Procedure.

True to his roots, Mr. Brewer returned to central Florida after law school and apprenticed under Sebring’s iconic Steve Kackley. Mr. Brewer then worked as a prosecutor for the 10th Circuit State Attorney’s Office, serving in Hardee, Highlands, and Polk counties. He prosecuted cases from traffic tickets to shootings and worked in the Economic Crimes Division, focusing on complex white-collar fraud and embezzlement cases. Mr. Brewer and Mr. Wilson worked alongside each other as prosecutors in Sebring during that time and tried several cases together,

laying the early groundwork for Brewer & Wilson.

Mr. Brewer then worked with Sebring’s most established criminal trial lawyer, William “Bill” Fletcher. Mr. Brewer learned to blend old-school trial lawyering with modern technology for the most effective strategies and client experience. He then opened his own firm where he branched out into criminal appeals and post-conviction matters. In his free time, Mr. Brewer is active in local bar associations. He enjoys playing golf, reading, and spending time with his loved ones.
